On Sunday, Donald Trump spent much of the day on the phone with friends, news hosts, and both local and international officials, following an assassination attempt that left him injured the previous day.
Ohio Pastor Darrell Scott, a long-time supporter, reported that Trump “was in great spirits” during their conversation on Sunday morning, just hours after the shooting.
“He was his usual self, not making a fuss about it,” Scott said. “In fact, he seemed to be downplaying the situation, focusing more on asking how I was doing.”
Former RNC Chair Reince Priebus, who also served as Trump’s White House chief of staff, told ABC’s “This Week” that Trump was “thankful for the miracle of the situation. ... If the bullet had been just a quarter inch in the other direction, we would be facing a very different discussion today.”
